Starting a Virtual Assistant Career with No Experience: How I launched a Career in One Month
Technology is transforming how we work and earn. Now, people from resource constrained countries can earn in currencies such as dollars, Euros, and pounds from their homes.
Here is how I did it in less than no time and landed my first gig right out of the door. This rise of remote work has opened up new opportunities for Africans like me to access global markets, work flexibly, and build careers that are not limited by geographical location.
With the demand for virtual assistants on the rise, I seized the opportunity to improve my life. This rapidly growing field offered me the opportunity to work with clients from diverse industries and backgrounds.
With many entrepreneurs and businesses seeking skilled professionals like me to support their operations remotely, building a successful career in this exciting field is easy with the right guidance.
Here is the major step that I took as recommended by Champions Coaching Academy where I trained
Self-Assessment
I was led through an exercise that involved Identifying my transferable skills from previous roles. These were skills that I overlooked but I was shown the value and how to utilize them.
Such skills as listed below will help you land great roles:
Organization and time management, which I received further training on
Communication and customer service, which is a game changer and the program focused on teaching me about different types of communication and when and how to leverage them
Technical abilities such as the ability to work with Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace
Why the above skills
You will notice that during the self assessment, I identified both my hard and soft skills. The hard skills got me the job and the soft skills help me daily in keeping my job.
A good virtual assistant needs to be organized as work gets thrown at you from multiple angles. I learned how to prioritize while maintaining skills that showed productivity. At Champions Coaching Academy, the team is diverse so the different lecturers help you in their areas of expertise.
Time management was also a major one. Working with clients from different time zones. I learned to keep in mind that when one part of the world slept, the other awoke.
More Skills
Customer service was ingrained into me as a must-have. At Champions Coaching Academy, the customer service is exemplary. Dr Ekaette Joseph-Isang the CEO ingrains that into us all
By the time I was done learning tech skills, I was ready to face the world and I am now thriving as a virtual assistant.
It took me less than one month to go from newbie to pro and to know that I had gained a recession-proof skill. I will go back to take their program for aspiring online tutors where people with expertise in any subject can learn how to set up their online tutoring businesses.
That was my experience leveraging my existing skills to quickly transition into online teaching gigs.
